Here are a few tips to help increase attendance:

Many schools have a challenging times getting parents to attend evening parent nights / community education events. Here are a few ideas that other schools have used to increase attendance.

  • Homework free pass – Having teachers offer a homework free pass to students if their parent attends the event.  Have an attendance sign-in sheet to record parents who attended.
  • Teachers can also offer bonus points for an upcoming quiz or test for those whose parents attend.  Again, have an attendance sheet to record the parents who attend.
  • Free child care during the event. Schools have national honor society students watch and play with kids during the event for free as part of their community service.
  • Free food – some schools have local pizza places or other restaurants in the community donate some food to the event.
  • Request RSVP – you can request that parents let you know if they are going to attend so you can have the right amount of food and child care. If a parent rsvp’s they have committed to the event and are less likely to back out last minute 🙂
