Over two inspiring days, Lindsay Public Schools in Lindsay OK partnered with Robert Hackenson Jr. for a series of substance awareness presentations for schools designed to engage, educate, and empower both parents and students.

The event began with a Parent Education Night on Teen Substance Awareness, where Robert helped families understand the real challenges facing today’s teens. Parents learned about the misperceptions that can lead to risky choices—like thinking vaping is harmless, or believing that letting teens drink at home teaches responsibility.  He also covered the risks of over the counter pills and prescription pills, which some think are harmless.  These beliefs, while common, often open the door to greater risk.

Robert’s presentation also explored the triggers that push teens toward substance use, such as stress, social pressure, and curiosity. He offered realistic, evidence-based strategies parents can use to help their teens make smart decisions during difficult moments. His goal: to start open, judgment-free conversations that strengthen the parent-child connection and build resilience.

Bullying Prevention Assembly for Elementary School Students

For the younger elementary level students, Robert shifted gears and brought his “Let’s Talk Kindness and Respect” presentation to elementary students. Using magic, illusions, and storytelling, he kept young learners captivated while teaching important lessons about managing emotions, showing empathy, and understanding what bullying really is. Students learned what to do if they are bullied—or if they see someone else being bullied—and how simple acts of kindness can transform a school community.

These bullying prevention and substance awareness assemblies in Oklahoma schools combined fun and education in a way that kept students engaged while reinforcing lifelong lessons.
