Why is this important for parents?
As a result of massive marketing campaigns and misleading information, there has been a significant increase in the number of teens vaping both nicotine and THC over recent years. In 2020 16.6% of 8th graders, 30.7% of 10th graders, and 34.5% of 12th graders reported vaping nicotine in the past 12 months. The number of teens vaping THC has also significantly increased over recent years. The problem is these teens are basing their decisions on misinformation and these decisions could have long-lasting negative consequences. As a parent you need to know the whole truth to understand how and why your teen is being targeted, and see through the misinformation to help your teen to make healthy and positive decisions.
What’s the Big Deal?
Some parents I’ve talked with also don’t think it’s a big deal because of the marketing messages they have seen/heard that indicate “vaping is safe.” But how safe is it? Where are these messages actually coming from? How and why are they targeting your teen? What is the truth? So we created this vaping awareness parent presentation to help parents to be informed in order to help guide their teen to make healthy decisions.
